American Revolution Screening and Discussion with Hinesville Library
GPB is thrilled to collaborate with Hinesville Library to celebrate the premiere of THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, a compelling new six-part, 12-hour documentary from acclaimed filmmakers Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt. This powerful series delves into the nation’s founding struggle and the enduring legacy of the eight-year War for Independence that shaped the United States. Following the screening, local author K.P. Odom will speak on Liberty County’s ties to the Revolutionary War and speak about his own work: “1768: A Place in Time”.“1768: A Place in Time” is a captivating story that follows two cousins, Rachel and Richard, who, during an archaeological dig in coastal Georgia, uncover an artifact that transports them back to the eighteenth-century English colony of Georgia. This novel is a rich tapestry of life along the Georgia coast, filled with historical details and a dash of scientific trivia. It explores the lives of two eighteenth-century siblings and their interactions with their twenty-first-century descendants, creating a fascinating narrative where the past meets the future.
