Columbus-Lowndes Previews THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION to Provoke Thought and Reflection

November 4 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

On November 4, 2025 at 6:00 pm, the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, in partnership with Mississippi Public Broadcasting, is proud to announce a special community screening of THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, the latest documentary from acclaimed filmmakers Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt. Serving the 60,000 residents of Lowndes County, the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System operates four branches that provide weekly programming focused on literacy, writing, crafting, and history. This event continues the library’s mission to offer enriching educational opportunities while fostering a deeper understanding of America’s story. The screening will invite audiences to engage with the pivotal moments of the nation’s founding, while also creating space for reflection on the broader themes of freedom, sacrifice, and civic responsibility. We are excited to bring such a powerful and timely documentary to our community. Through this program, Mississippi Public Broadcasting and the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library hope to connect residents with both the rich history of the country and the ongoing importance of civic engagement. The event is free and open to the public.
