The American Revolution Thursday, November 6, 2025 Crosstown Theater Begins at 7pm Free and Open to the Public More Information The Crosstown Arts Film Series presents a special screening of The American Revolution, the latest Ken Burns documentary series exploring the extraordinary events and figures that shaped the founding of the United States. This free community screening, presented in partnership with WKNO, offers audiences the opportunity to experience the film on the big screen while engaging in thoughtful discussion about the enduring legacy of America’s fight for independence. A pre-screening discussion will feature G. Wayne Dowdy and Roosevelt Moody, two respected voices in the civic and historical community. G. Wayne Dowdy serves as Senior Manager of the Memphis Public Libraries History Department and has authored several acclaimed books on Memphis history. Recognized by the Tennessee Historical Commission for his contributions to archival preservation and records management, Dowdy’s decades-long commitment to documenting and interpreting Memphis’ history has made him one of the city’s most trusted historians. Roosevelt Moody is a retired civil servant, educator, and U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. His distinguished career includes 15 years of military service, nine as a Public Affairs Technician, and over two decades in education and public service, including work with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Southwest Tennessee Community College. Moody holds four college degrees, including master’s degrees in Human Resource Development and Inner City Studies, and brings a wealth of experience in teaching U.S. and World History, Sociology, and civic engagement.
