Symposium & Transcribe-a-Thon: Exploring Revolutionary Voices with Harding University, Arkansas PBS, and the Arkansas State Library
Harding University partnered with Arkansas PBS and the Arkansas State Library to host a two-day event centered on Thomas Paine’s Common Sense and early American history. The event featured a symposium at Harding University on March 13, a public Transcribe-a-Thon on March 14 to encourage engagement with Revolutionary-era documents, and a screening of “The American Revolution” film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt. The Remnant Trust contributed an exhibit with 20 early American first printings, including Common Sense, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence, providing additional educational value. This collaboration advanced Arkansas PBS’s Revolutionary Reflections initiative and fostered civic participation and historical literacy through partnerships with Harding University, the Arkansas State Library, and The Remnant Trust.
