You’re invited to watch a preview of a new six-part documentary series coming to KSPS PBS this November. From film directors and producers Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION explores America’s founding struggle and its eight-year war for independence. After the showing, listen to a panel discussion as community leaders answer the question, What Does Liberty Mean to Me? Panelists Lisa Gardner, Spokane NAACP president and the director of communications and community engagement for the Spokane City Council, Lawrence B.A. Hatter, PhD, associate professor of history at Washington State University, and Warren Seyler, a historian with the Spokane Tribe of Indians, will discuss the evolving meaning of liberty from revolutionary times to today. Plus, how liberty’s ideals can address current political divides. Moderated by veteran Spokane journalist Dana Haynes.
